"CHILD BEREAVEMENT & LOSS CONFERENCE 1ST OCTOBER 2009
I am pleased to send you details of our inaugural conference for Loss and Bereavement affecting children in our region.
Children experiencing loss will go through a range of emotions, which can be confusing and conflicting for them.
These emotions can have an enormous impact for the child and their family and in turn will need help, encouragement and support. The aim of this conference is to highlight these issues, provide insight into the work that goes on within this area, what help is available and how to deal with specific issues.
This unmissable one-day conference is catered towards professionals and agencies involved in working with children, their families in areas of loss and bereavement.
Our guest speakers for the day are; David Trickey, Lead Paediatric Psychologist, specialising in complex trauma and traumatic bereavement at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Catriona Matthews, Senior Practitioner with the Charity Winston's Wish will be providing focus on her bereavement work with adolescents.Rachel Fearnley is a qualified, registered social worker, working within family support services and will be talking about her experiences and research. Sue Tomlinson, Chief Executive and founder of Sue's Place will be providing her insight into the work that Sue's Place facilitates.
