Urgent notification
The government has just launched the Future Jobs Fund to support the creation of jobs for long term unemployed young people and others who face significant disadvantage in the labour market.
The Fund of £1 billion will create 150,000 jobs for young people 18-24 who have been out of work for a year or adults within unemployment ‘hotspots’. The jobs provided are expected to last at least 6 months.
It is expected that the majority of bids will be from local authorities but there is a desire to include the VCS. Partnership bids are particularly encouraged.
Successful bids will need to:
- create extra jobs i.e. jobs of at least 25 hrs a week that would not exist without this funding
- provide work that will benefit local communities
- provide work in areas with the potential for sustainability.
- include quality training with qualifications.
Funding will be £6,500 per 25hr/6 month job.
What Enable is doing?
The City Council and County Council are considering submitting a tender in round 1 (June 2009) and have indicated they want to include Enable. At this stage we feel our best approach may be to join in a countywide partnership but haven’t ruled out a VCS led tender. We will keep you informed of the developments.
Interested?
If you are interested in being involved and could develop a project that could support the employment of a number of young people or adults and would be of community benefit please let us know as soon as possible. Please estimate (no commitment) the number of people that could be support in 1 year.
Please register your interest via email to enquiries@enable.uk.net.
Please note at this stage we are just exploring the potential VCS involvement and are not able guarantee this will result in us submitting a tender.
