NEWS ALERT: European Funding available for Economic Development in
North Nottinghamshire and North Derbyshire
North Nottinghamshire and North Derbyshire have been successful in
attracting £13.2m of European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the
East Midlands Development Agency (emda), under the ERDF Priority Axis 2
programme.
So far, around £10 million has been committed to projects supporting
economic and enterprise activities within the 5 local authority district
areas of Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Bolsover, Chesterfield and Mansfield.
The programme is now being opened on a rolling basis and applications for
funding are invited from projects which will support the priorities in the
North Nottinghamshire and North Derbyshire Priority Axis 2 Local Investment
Plan. These are :
Stimulate and support new markets and enterprise opportunities
Develop employment sites and premises
Provide access to resources and support
Revive local infrastructure and environments
Examples of projects may include:
Construction of business premises and development of industrial sites.

local economy, e.g. social enterprise development, promotion of part time
entrepreneurship and local trading schemes
Schemes to help local businesses make the most of public procurement
opportunities
Local transport initiatives to connect local people to local jobs
Development of local areas to make them more attractive for local
communities and investors, e.g. business crime reduction initiatives,

ERDF aims to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the European Union
by supporting regional economic development. The total ERDF programme in the
East Midlands is worth approximately £200m in grants, which when combined
with match funding provides a programme value in the region of £400m – a
significant investment in the economic development of the region.
