I'm not anti registration in principle but i feel to go from being completely open (the only thing about the club that is) to being unable to even view the new board unless you are registered is a hell of a jump to take in one move and certainly does not help any Bash cause in doing so.
We are not known as a club open to questions and new fangled thinking as it is and doing this would only cement the fact in many peoples minds - is there not a third option whereby you have to register to post but are still able to view posts if you are not a member? That way we might get a few passers by interested enough in a topic to post on it at least!
How many alternatives to the poster problem would you like?
Our season ticket holders (could be a hard sell this term owing to the clubs seemingly self imposed exile from the outside world) drive into the club, could they not be given a poster to keep in their cars as they drive in? How about our sponsors who are open to the public (farm shops, Cafes etc) could they not be given a poster to display in their premises? The people rich enough to have paid their membership of the club who stay on and drink after a game. Could these not be given posters then? As people leave the ground could they not be given posters for the next match? It would help the take up of such a scheme if it was printed in the programme as a way to help the club and plugged over the PA as well.
The habit could catch on and become second nature to people to take a poster for their local newsagents or chippy...............but leave the bloody price off. (can i swear now as it'll soon disappear off into deepest cyberspace?)
