Just looked on the link for myself - unreal isn't it, i'm to be charged £20 to be able to put much needed money behind our bar when an away fan can sit in our bar for free and look out of the windows at any HOME fan unwilling to pay the membership waiting for kick-off outside and contribute nothing but gate money to his/her football club.
It's twenty quid that the club shall not be getting from me and if i have to i will be an away fan before kick-off, at half-time and full-time. It would be an entirely different reaction from me if the club were to come out and say to the fans if they could donate a one off payment before the beginning of the season to help towards signing players etc in order for us to push on.
If that approach were taken then i'm sure that the club would be pleasantly surprised by the reaction it would recieve, but this club never seems to learn anything does it. Even Thatcher eventually learnt that the poll tax was a bad idea in the end.
Just another thing to add to an unmitigated disaster of a close season PR and Marketing wise from the club, will we ever be a club that is open to it's fans? One that can see the benefits of keeping them well informed and onside?
Sorry to take his tone but it seems incredible that in the current economic climate the club seems blind to ordainary punters circumstances, the last thing that we need to be doing in that climate is giving people a reason to sit on their arses at home rather than get down to the Rec.
Good job we have no PR bod at the club as the charge above would be an impossible sell even to max clifford on a good day.
