Guys
Whilst I am an avid fan I do feel that there should be a little bit of realism apportioned to last night's display.
I'm criticised on a regular basis during my working life for speaking the truth but unfortunately the truth hurts. I know that I command more respect (probably not on this forum) throughout my working life for speaking my mind so here goes;
I do not feel that the scoreline flattered Team Bath. They are a very very good footballing side and thoroughly deserved their win. How we expected to beat them by lumpinbg the ball forward is beyond me. The only way to beat sides like this is to try and play through them but sadly (bar a couple of exceptions) we failed to do it.
We've often seemed to be tactically lacking at times this season and last night was another example of this; I fully understood the reasoning to bring on Keeler as he would provide us with an outlet who could run at their defenders but why was this at the expense of Davo. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise that taking off your one serious contender to score a goal from midfield is not the brightest option! I thought it would've been more of an obvious shout to take off Archbold, put on Keeler down the left and push Davo behind the front two. Fez & Davo were the only 2 players on the pitch that were trying to play football instead of "hit it and hope".
We are short of 3 or 4 decent players to mount a serious challenge next season;
Gazzard's not up to it anymore. Nobody can question his committment but surely this will be his last season at this level.
Moss doesn't seem to work hard enough for the team.
Towner is at least a trier but lacks any real bite or quality.
Archbold just runs around like a headless chicken and doesn't offer the team anything!
This is of course my opinion and I don't expect you all to agree with me. However, if you really think deep down you'll realise that what I've said does actually make sense.
Here's to promotion next season.
Up the bash.
Phil
