Posted by Dave Wilson If there is anything else you would like to know i'm happy to help. My GT has a DFZ engine transplanted in it too. I have shaved the head to get some of the compression and torque back. My next plan is to put a DKZ head over the DFZ block which will give me around 10.5:1 compression and the larger intake and exhaust valves. Hope that helps, Dave

Hi David,
The DFZ engine is actually from the Bx tri which is a 1987, from then on in the Tri 122 and Tzi the DKZ engine was used (larger valves, more compression and longer duration camshaft). The DFZ has an 8.4:1 compression ratio, where as the original GT had 9.3:1. The valves are the same size. These engines are set up differently. After the swap you would have noticed a little less torque low down, however this engine makes its max power a little higher in the rev range. Both engines made 75 kw but the DFZ revs a little higher to achieve it.
