We have recently dicovered that my almost 5 year old daughter has profound hearing loss to her right ear and normal hearing to her left ear. Her language development, however has suffered and despite this, the education department her in Canberra, Australia had denied her itinerant teaching suppport in the classroom. I am currently appealing there decision. They seem unconvinced that her hearing loss is a problem and do not believe that it is the reason for her language delays. How do I convince these people, who claim to be experts in the fiels of special needs, that my child will not achieve cademic success without classroom support?
Thanks,
Mel
