Posted by Jacob Johnston Oh, and how long does a fertilization last? Is it one fertilization/one egg, or does one visit from the rooster fertilize for a time period. Basically, how long should the breeders be kept apart until the eggs are purely from the matings in the breeding pen?

Aren't araucanas funny birds? The two I hatched from eggs are the first ones to come running when I come out of the door and both have a tendency to perch on my shoulder when I'm in the pens. They both are easy to catch and really relax when in hand. Both will just dangle there loose in my hands until I put them back on the ground. Sounds like the blue and the black get to come out of solitary as soon as I can get that pen fixed up enough to move without falling apart. Or I may just bring them over this week and introduce them at the same time and see if any fights break out in the pen. It'd be nice for them not to have to stay by themselves if possible.
