If your hens will have a roof over their head and something to keep the wind and wet off of them I wouldn't be that concerned myself. I have some of mine in an open shed beside my garage. I put old cardboard on the sides of their cages on the wind side and they always winter without trouble. Keep them dry and keep the wind off is usually a good rule to follow.
