At our county fair, every kid gets a ribbon. A bird that would be disqualified at an APA show would get a white ribbon along with an explanation from the judge why it should be disqualified. The best way to combat the non-standard birds is to make sure the kids in your county have access to good quality birds. it is pretty hard for a judge to place an Easter Egger when it is standing next to a bird that meets the standard.
