I'll share what has worked for me. I crush up old fashioned oatmeal, like Quakers Oatmeal, and mix it with their chick feed. It is maybe 1/6 of the total feed. It really helps to dry them up, and the babies just love it. They will pick out the oatmeal from the chick feed, so I have to limit what they get so they don't pig out. I routinely start feeding them the mix from the very beginning as a preventive, but it also works later on to clear it up. Liike Richard says, I've also noticed that if the chicks get a bit chilled that they seem more prone to develop the problem.
