My hematoma came 2 days following a lumpectomy. I was sitting on the couch the evening of 1/25/04 and I could feel my entire breast filling with blood. It filled up to my clavicle and around under my arm. It is now February 12, 2005 and it has resolved somewhat. At first it felt like a 15 pound rock on my chest, now it feels like a 5 pound rock. But it is still quite ugly. My surgeon left it to resolve on its own, for fear of infection and I really did not want another procedure. I imagine it will take six months to resolve. Chemo has not seemed to bother it. I have no pain, just uncomfortable feelings. I wonder what will happen when I get to radiation?
