The problem is that your nipple is, or has had blood suppyl/flow problems and has slowed or stagnated the healing in that area. Our PS said that the only thing we can do is wait and see if it starts to heal or if it starts to die; in which case they would have to do surgery and try to reconfigure the blood supply. I know that sounds scarry but freaking out isn't going to make it heal faster. My girlfriend and I decided to let the area dry for a day or so and see if it clots to a normal scab; i.e. we didn't put neosporin on it just plain gauze. Sure enough the white spot darkened to a normal scab. About a week has passed and the scab seems to be reducing in size revealing pink (living) tissue. Looks like things are going to work out.
