Posted by kristina You are sounding very down today. What kind of dressings are you using? I am actually a little concerned that you say it is scabby. I am currently using a wet to dry dressing that is wet with a chlorine and salt water solution. The whole time I have been dealing with this the PS has wanted me to keep the wound moist to promote healing. I know scabs are fine for skinned knees and little things like that, but I do wonder if it is the best thing for something like this. When and how did you know something was wrong? Was it right after surgery? When did the black, leathery skin show up? My PS checked the skin really closely prior to DC and made a comment about the skin color but I really didn't understand what she was talking about. She did tell me that they noticed some discoloration in the skin flaps when they were finished with the procedure, but I think it was too late then. I did not actually have the dry, black, leather until 11 days post op. Where are you from. I live in Maryland, USA. Hang in there. It is so nice to have you to talk to and to know I am not alone. As for suing my doc. At this point, she has been responsive to fixing things. I know from Yvonne's story that the doc didn't listen to her and didn't want to do anything. I think she needs to talk to an attorney. Mine really has been very caring and on top of things. I still don't know if there was neglect in the OR, but even if there was something small that could have been done to change the outcome I have had, she is only human. I think I really need to look at her response in handling things now that something is wrong. Best of luck. Hang in there. Kristina
