Posted by Sylvia I have also thought of suing my doctor, but like you need to know more, he made it seem as though it was my fault somehow. He even told my family that I must have smoked. I have never smoked in my life. And yes, I did know that there were risks, but not like this. My PS said the odds are 1 in 300 of this happening. I will pray for your speedy recovery. Sylvia

Kristina,
I also had the same problem that you are describing. My doctor said that I lost blood supply during surgery. When I first saw my breast I could have sworn that I had been torched and had a third degree burn. Around the second week I was red, swollen and started to smell bad. A week later my PS cut off my eschar (the leathery looking thing) and alot of smelly, soy sauce looking fluid came pouring out. I was put on antibiotics and after getting a second opinion and a culture put on more antibiotics. My husband helped me change my dressing twice a day and I prayed to God every time to give me the strength to help me get through it. I was an emotional basket case and was put on Ativan to help me cope. It has now been 15 weeks since my surgery and I still have a very thick scab on the bottom of my right breast. The deep intentation I think is filling in, so you may not need additional surgery. I was offered a skin graft, but turned it down as I wanted no part of any more surgery. Through this site I met Yvonne who told me about Polymem, an expensive dressing that does not hurt. She also gave me encouragement and someone to talk to who knew what I was going through.
