Posted by Adam on 12/30/2003, 12:46 pm Her pain has subsided considerably and she seems to be a bit more stable emotionally. She still can't look at them, so I have to do all her cleaning and dressing. She seems to be developing a problem with her left nipple due to limited blood flow. It is dark and some of the external tissue is peeling. The sub-dermal tissue is still dark but pinker so it is still living. The doc said to keep an eye on it. If it darkens more, she may have to operate again. Keeping my fingers crossed, Adam
Thanks Nicole. I guess if there is a possibility of her back problems getting worse, to the point necessitating surgery, it's probably best that she got it done now at her young age. I try that angle in calming her and it doesn't seem to have much of an impact now. In her mind she traded the possibility of avoiding potential back surgery with the certainty of "unattractive breasts for the rest of her life" as she puts it. I think in the long run she will be comfortable with them and maybe even happy, but that is a very long run. I guess all I can do is wait and keep reminding her of the positives.
