I did not put my e-mail because I am responding from my government computer. I saw that the day of your surgery is today, and I want you to know my thoughts are with you. I am not 4 weeks post-op, and was actually surprised at how little "pain" I experienced. I felt discomfort and stiffness, but not what I would describe as "pain". I liken it to a situation (I don't know if you have kids or not) of your milk coming in and having the hard breasts. My favorite friend during recovery were the male "wife beater t-shirts" - the sleeveless tank shirts. They are soft and seem to have the right amount of support, and they are cheap and if they get stained it's not too big of a deal. I was unwrapped in the recovery room and per my PR's instructions wore the t-shirt through recovery. The most annoying part of has been the related liposuction. I ended up having the drains in for a week and a half, and that incision is the most annoying part. I know my drains were in a bit longer than most people's. two weeks post-op I was told I could do leg lifts, but not to get my heart rate too elevated. My PR will advise me re exercise at my six week check. I am really ready to get exercising, although I can understand at this point that stretching is probably a no-no, so am just laying low. Walking and being outside do feel great. I found low level activity gardening was very therapeutic, but that's just because I like to garden. I went from a DD to a B. My PR says it is very common for women to lose 10-15 pounds after the surgery because you are so much more active. Actually, due to my healthy eating after the surgery, I have lost eight pounds since. Don't be shocked if there is not a huge weight loss after the surgery immediately. They have pumped lots of fluid in you and your tummy may be distended. Do not judge your breasts too early, either. They change on a daily basis! All I ever want to do is talk about my breats lately, it seems. It is so exciting. (I am 46 years old with a 4 year old and 7 year old and want to be active for them.) I hope you are feeling fine as you read this. And just remember -- It is probably at the most three months of being uncomfortable, but it is for a lifetime of improvement in quality of life. And what they say about those little jolts of shock post-op is true, too.
