UGANDA
Ongoing spiritual formation of religious men and women in Namugongo
It was in 1988 when the Uganda Spiritual Formation Centre was founded by Father Brendan Jordan and Sister Cecilia Nibyobyonka. Its aim was to encourage the spiritual growth of those who had embraced the priestly and religious life so that they in turn could pass on this spiritual growth to their brothers and sisters in religion. The formation is an invitation to the religious to rediscover their own spiritual vocation, while drawing strength from the experience of communion with participants from other cultures and institutes, so that they can then take this out into the world and proclaim the Faith to society. Central to the formation process are the Sacred Scriptures, prayer, liturgy, spiritual and human development, and the Church and the life of community. So that as many priests and religious can participate in the programmes of the centre, its director, Father Arnould de Schaetzen has turned to the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) for help.
ACN has promised a grant of $20,000. To help this cause please contact the Sydney office of ACN on (02) 9679-1929. e-mail: info@aidtochurch.org or write to Aid to the Church in Need PO Box 6245 Blacktown DC NSW 2148. Web: www.aidtochurch.org
