GUATEMALA
Support for three sisters of the congregation of "Maria Reparadora"
The diocese of Santa Rosa de Lima lies in the southeast of Guatemala. Here, for the past 13 years three sisters from the congregation of "Maria Reparadora" have been engaged in their apostolate, supporting the priest in his pastoral work and caring for the sick and elderly in the parish. But in their dedication to others they themselves are dependent on support from outside agencies, to cover such basic costs as food, electricity, gas and essential medical supplies. While they do receive a small allowance from their order, this is by no means enough to cover all the costs they have to meet. And yet the sisters have come to this impoverished region solely in order to help the people here.
In their hour of need the Bursar of the community, Sister María de Lourdes Torres Rodríguez, has turned to the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) for help, with the full backing of her Bishop, Mgr Bernabé Sagastume Lemus of Santa Rosa de Lima.
