CZECH REPUBLIC
Renovation of the parish house in Rychnov
Rychnov lies within the diocese of Hradec Králové and has a population of around 15,000 souls. Unfortunately, however, the parish has no place it can use for pastoral work. Even the presbytery itself is unusable, having fallen into a state of disrepair. Like many other towns in the Czech Republic, Rychnov has to a large extent become mission territory. Yet the parish priest, Father Petr Stejskal is trying to make contact with people, and especially with young people, partly by his teaching work at the local grammar school and partly through his charitable activities. But his presbytery is in urgent need of renovation so that it can be used both for the parish administration and as a place to live for the parish priest and his assistant priest. And so Bishop Dominik Duka OP, of Hradec Králové has turned to the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) for help for support.
ACN has promised a grant of $13,000. To help this cause please contact the Sydney office of ACN on (02) 9679-1929. e-mail: info@aidtochurch.org or write to Aid to the Church in Need PO Box 6245 Blacktown DC NSW 2148. Web:www.aidtochurch.org
