BENIN
Construction of a kitchen in the catechetical centre of Saint Paul in Natitingou
The diocese of Natitingou is situated in the northwest of Benin. Its formation centre, the Catechetical Centre of Saint Paul holds courses for priests, religious sisters, married couples, adults and young people. The centre was built over 40 years ago and is around 2 miles (3 km) from the centre of the town of Natitingou. Originally the centre was used only for the in-service training of catechists in small groups, but now it has been extended and has space for groups of anything from 20 to 1200 people. The course participants come from all the parishes of the diocese and beyond, including other dioceses in the country and even from the neighbouring country of Burkina Faso.
Unfortunately, the kitchen in the centre is now in such a poor state that it can no longer be used. That is why Bishop Pascal N'Koue of Natitingou has turned to the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) for help.
ACN has promised a grant of $20,000 to help this project. To help this cause please contact the Sydney office of ACN on (02) 9679-1929. e-mail: info@aidtochurch.org or write to Aid to the Church in Need PO Box 6245 Blacktown DC NSW 2148. Web:www.aidtochurch.org
