The TA-824 has some complicated rules and the DSS console is the only way to follow service modes visually. Your 781/782/783# will switch from DAY/NIGHT/LUNCH mode manually but, you can set the system up for Automatic switching, force the system into nights at any time, and auto switch back into day mode by the clock. Lunch mode won't auto-switch back to any other mode and 780# will force the auto switch clock back into service and change the system into it's clocked time. (hey, I warned ya!)
It's all in the Pana OM on page 147-149. I believe this is from s/w 2.0 forward.
