Hopefully this makes sense and you are able to follow it. I looked over this support page: http://www.phonepower.com/Support/KnowledgebaseArticle50349.aspx?Keywords=multiple+line, but it does not seem applicable to my phone. I cannot consolidate two lines into one incoming port as this diagram seems to indicate. Even if I could, I don’t see how that would make any difference. The phone would still see things the same way. On the other hand, if the PP GS can be hooked up to a two line capable phone in this manner without it causing the same problem I am having on that phone, there should not be any reason why it could not be configured to work with my phone. With which picture is there something wrong?
Each line for my phone MUST use its own incoming port on my phone’s wiring block. Although, I did try plugging a phone line splitter into phone port two of the PP GS adapter and then plugging the phone cord into the line 2 socket of the splitter and running that cord to port 2 on my phone’s wiring block, but it still did not resolve the ringer enablement/disablement issue.
One other thing potentially of note, I can independently set the ringer TONE for each line of my phone to one of four ring-tone choices. I currently have each line configured with a different ringer tone in order to differentiate which line is ringing. I can also independently set the ringer VOLUME for each line, so I suppose I might also have to set line 1 & line 2 to the same volume level, but I don’t really think either of these would be the potential source of the problem.
I have even tried setting the ringer tone for both line 1 & line 2 to the same ringer tone, and each line to the same ringer volume, but with only slightly different results. When I hang up the 3rd line from which I am calling into the PP # - which then lights up lines 1 & 2, if BOTH lines are set to ring, using this configuration, line 2 on my phone will ring one time AFTER I hang-up the 3rd line (See why below). If only one line, either line 1 or line 2, is set to ring there is not even the one post hang-up ring. (No, using the third line to call into one of the other two lines does not prevent my phone from ringing. Depending upon settings, when calling in form the 3rd line I can have either one or both lines ring under normal circumstances, no matter how they are configured. I have successfully done it many times previously.)
The reason for the one post hang-up ring is that for whatever reason, line 2 from the PP GS phone port 2 ALWAYS rings for just a little while longer than the line coming from phone port 1 of the PP GS. I think that is why line 2 rings one time after hanging up the call. At that point, there is simply one line from the PP GS sending incoming call signals to my phone for the length of time it takes to get in one ring.
Also, if I hook up only a single line from EITHER the PP GS phone port 1 or phone port 2, that line will ring my phone just fine. It is only when both are hooked up to my phone that the problem occurs. It also does not matter which of the wiring block ports I plug the lone line into, it will ring the phone while plugged into any of them. So, it is not that the PP GS will simply not ring my phone, nor is it a matter of which one of the wiring block ports into which I plug the PP GS line.
I suppose it is possible that the timing difference may be the whole reason for the problem, or at least closely related to it. Yes, I have had all three lines on the phone ring from incoming calls simultaneously on prior occasions without problem.
