TVA200 upgrade patch

I have an older tva200 that cuts the callers off while they are leaving messages. I have received the v2.61aUS.bkp file "upgrade/patch" for the tva200.
Does anyone have any instructions on installing this patch? Does it wipe out all previous programming?
