how to bypass

I am running a Panasonic KVTS120 and Panasonic 8EXT (D1232) Digital Super Hybrid System. I have a bad hard drive in the VPS and have ordered a replacement unit. In the meantime, I can't figure out how to have the 1232 bypass the VPS, so I can manually answer the phone calls. Any suggestions? Thanks.
