TDA50 and the xdp port

How do i get the Preferred Outgoing Line on the XDP port to default to CO1? The option in the wired extension options is greyed oout where i would normally select it for an extension phone. Is there any way to correct this or do i have to press a number, such as 9, to get to the outside line?
