And why would you expect to do this on an 824?

We did a landscaping place that had an existing cordless system. We gave the cordless sets an extension and let them operate as PBX single line phones. Of course they had to use the FLASH key and dial codes to get outside lines, pick up calls and the like, but they kept the functionality of the cordless sets without the additional investment of system cordless sets.
