FWIW, I found my answer by downloading the User's Manual for this product, from the fine Panasonic website. The '6074 is pretty good, but as you would imagine, comes up short in competing with office-quality intercom capabilities. For example, there is no "public address" capability in the '6074, only an ability to "ring" various other handsets.
I have some interest in a home phone system that has such public address capability: "Billy, please pick up the phone," instead of simply hoping that Billy is the one who answers a page.
If you can suggest a phone system like that, I would like to hear about it. Cordless is not mandatory. BI-DIRECTIONAL communication (intercom) is best.
I might just set up a PA system in my house. Is there a way to "borrow" the telephone wires for a public address system that is not a telephone system, while allowing phones to operate simultaneously? Are there wireless, low wattage PA systems that use squawk boxes instead of bullhorns?
