I tried one countermeasure against previous posted phenomenon which was hapnned under KX-T61610 on TD7896.
Fortunately I finally got a solution for this matter.
You can enter the 'Setting Base menu' from the top menu displayed by icon of box which has two antennas.(This icon is displayed in lower line of center column in the 2nd Graphic menu.)
And then you proceed this menu, you can see the 'PBX type' in the top line of menu.
At this menu, You have to select 'Type2' exactly when TD7896 is connected to T61610,T30810,T123210,and T206 as very old type PBX.After this setting is applied, T61610 may work well with TD7896, but this is out of guarantee.
PLS Do not have any official complaint any malfunction with this 'type2' setting to the Panasonic dealers.
In current setting of this item, you can see the 'Type1' in the menu(this is Default setting).
I surely hope your latest TD7896 works well with very old but very lovely T61610.
