KX-TA824 Voicemail

I am attempting to setup a KX-TA824. I am having a great time trying to have a phone call just ring into voicemail. I have the good 'ole BV (Built In Voicemail) card installed and apparently from what I have read so far they are pretty much garbage.
I would like to use a common voice mail box for all phones to access. This is being set up in a home environment.
I primarily work with VOIP, so this is a different beast, and I am as confused as a crack addict under a strobe light.
