A port is not necessarily the same thing as a physical jack on the voice processor. With phone systems using analog integration (APITS), such as KX-TA624 and 824, each voice processor jack carries one conversation (one port), and each one needs to be connected to a jack in the phone system. With phone systems using digital integration (DPITS), such as KX-TD, KX-TDA, KX-TAW, and KX-TA1232, each voice processor jack carries TWO conversations (two ports), and you don't need to connect each one to a jack in the phone system. Two ports need just on jack in the phone system. Make sure you make connections with a phone cord that has a DATA PAIR -- the yellow and black wires in a normal cord and phone jack. A cord with just two wires in the center positions will NOT work for DPITS.
Panasonic's use of language leaves a lot to be desired. ![]()
