i had a problem with a siemens answering machine which would not release the line after the caller hung up...the double beep continued incessantly. i ended up biting the bullett and getting a tva50. even though it's way more than i need, i eventually grew into its features and am very pleased with the purchase after the fact. it's great to get messages from any phone in the house (not just by the ans machine) and i subsequently started using the caller id screening feature to keep out unwanted callers and prevent phones from ringing at certain times of the day and instead go straight into voicemail. also remote message notification is a good thing.
