external answering machine

I just had an KX-TA824 installed. I wanted to hook up my existing answering machine (a Panasonic KX-TM100)instead of buying the expensive BV card since my needs in this area are simple. No matter what I do, the answering machine never picks up. I have connected it as its own extension, then in parallel to a PT, set it for TAM (Progam Code 611), etc. but to no success. I have hooked up a regular phone (SLT) to the answering machine to make sure it was connected. The phone rings, but the answering machine never picks up. I am certain the answering machine works fine since it worked up until the day I set the DISA option on. Any ideas as to what program setting I have missed?
