To date we've received over 250 responses on both of these surveys and have 60 days remaining in the study. Please carefully read the purpose and intent of this research and help contribute to the knowledge and understanding of the Community. These are NOT surveys for roleplayers or enthusiasts or those who have only a superficial understanding of modern vampirism - they are neutrally drafted and represent an average age of 28 for respondents to date from Europe, America, and others parts of the World. We are soliciting responses from respected sources within the Community and request your support and participation. Thank you! Five Important Acknowledgements You Need To Know: 1.) These surveys are LONG and DETAILED and require time to complete. We know this because we spent many sleepless months drafting, editing, and revising them with each of us sitting down and completing them ourselves. We value your time and ask that you use the evenings, coffee breaks, or downtime during the weekend to thoughtfully reflect and answer both of these surveys. We’ve even tossed around the idea of offering T-Shirts “I Survived The Vampire Research Survey” or “I Took The Vampire Research Survey And All I Got Was…” - all jokes aside though, the QUALITY of responses to date have far exceeded our expectations and we would like to add yours to this growing study. We ask that those who have a sincere interest in this Community and who wish to expand the current body of knowledge regarding vampirism please participate. 2.) There are TWO surveys. VEWRS – 1st Survey and AVEWRS – 2nd Survey. One covers the general community and background and the other covers in-depth specifics of vampirism and energy work. IF YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE VEWRS IT IS VERY IMPORTANT YOU ALSO COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THE AVEWRS (2nd SURVEY); AS THEY WILL BE CORRELATED TOGETHER! 3.) Yes, these surveys ask what could be construed as personal information. Therefore, if you do not feel comfortable providing certain demographic data we suggest the following remedy: a.) Provide current residence and places of birth to the nearest major metropolitan city Bottom Line: We are interested in how you experience the vampiric condition more so than we are the details of your personal life and will continue to value your privacy and anonymity above all else. For more information please read the FAQ located on the web site. 4.) This is important so read this one carefully. If there are questions on the surveys that do not provide adequate choices and/or that you disagree with, then utilize the “Other”, free response, or even the margins if completed by hand to indicate such. We WELCOME you to write or type ANY and ALL information you would like to see covered in this study. If you feel the need to provide clarification to your answers let us assure you everything that is written does NOT go unnoticed and will be taken into account in the analysis. Instead of criticizing aspects of the surveys that you disagree with, take the power into your own hands to explain to us why. Those thought provoking arguments will be printed as a matter of record alongside the conclusions and interpretations – this study is a living and dynamic document for the entire community and this is why it is so important to draw from diverse viewpoints. When the results are published in late 2007 we would not like you to engage in Monday morning quarterbacking if you did not at least choose to partake or attempt to fully read and understand the scope of this study in the first place or attempt to claim that it is “news” to you that it even exists at all as it’s listed on virtually every forum, site, group, and corner of the online Community. It is NOT a census or basic data graphing project that will result in mere orphaned percentages and graphs. By all means write or type until your heart’s content and express your opinions, experiences, and knowledge of what vampirism means to you. 5.) PLEASE take the time to speak directly with your friends, forums, boards, local Houses, gatherings, meetups, etc. to encourage them to complete both of these surveys and submit them as soon as possible. We are gathering responses from ALL areas of this Community (online and offline) and ironically individuals who would never speak with one other are banding together for a common purpose to put forth their individual (ronin, solitary, independent, affiliated, left-hand, right-hand, up, down, sideways) view of the vampiric condition and Community. Our staff is available to answer questions around the clock so don’t hesitate to contact us. We sincerely appreciate your participation in this research endeavor and will strive to analyze and treat the data we receive with the utmost professionalism. The Vampire & Energy Work Research Survey (VEWRS) The final release of the VEWRS comprises 379 questions, covering 11 primary categories, and spans 74 pages. The final release of the AVEWRS comprises 609 questions, covering 5 primary categories, and spans 139 pages. We realize these surveys (VEWRS & AVEWRS) are lengthy, and that they call for a serious investment of time and thought. Many months of development and countless hours of editing and review have gone into the writing of these surveys. We have done our best to put together questions which, when answered by members of the community, will help provide answers to questions that vampires have been asking for years, and will allow our community to be understood better by others. This is a rare chance for those who are willing to put forth the effort to benefit the entire community. Keeping in mind the scope of this project, please do not request a copy if you feel you are not up to the task. To maintain the integrity of the data, we need as many surveys to be returned to us as possible. This is an effort by the community and for the community - no loyalty of affiliation, bias, or preferential consideration is taken into account in the pursuance of this community study. The results of these surveys will be published in 2007 as an expansive study.
