The Gaffer being professional as ever.
Myself and IFCSG Chairman Duncan Payne managed to have a brief chat with him before we left yesterday. Obviously he was delighted to of reached the play-offs and knows the lads will give it a real go come Tues night.
Not ideal preparation, 2 days rest before that monster trip up there to face Workington.
They've beat us easily on our last 2 meetings so their tail's will be up, but we know we can't play much worse than we've shown them so far.
So maybe....just maybe...we can shock them a little.
They certainly didn't look anything special to me.
I do fear though.....
Should this game go to extra time and ultimately penalties, it will be virtually daylight when our boys return home!🌛....🌞
We simply HAVE to up our game regardless.
Because the last 2/3 showings just haven't been good enough.
Infact, we've created very very few goal scoring opportunities.
But the lads will already know that I'm sure.
We know we are capable, because for me, along with FCUM, we are one of the best footballing sides at this level when we are on our game.
We don't need 1 or 2 individual performances of quality. We need all 16 collectively to be on the very top of their game to see us over the line.
It won't be easy, and neither will the final (Curzon Ashton or Ashton United) but we need to see now more than ever what our young team are made of.
Just to finish by saying what a fabulous welcome and warmth was shown by our hosts and all associated with Nantwich yesterday.
From stewards to bar staff, they couldn't of been any more helpful, and did so with a smile on their faces.
THAT......is what Non-League is all about.
