while researching stuff for next seasons programme i discovered an article in the tiser dated 12/2/1999. it clearly states that the council owns the ground but that itfc had a 99 year lease. this lease was crucial to paul millership's decision to erect the clocktower stand.
while i am thrilled about check whyte's ambitions for the club to reach the conference by 2010/11 i believe that it won't just be david holdsworth who'll have his work cut out. to be eligible for the conference the ground would need a capacity for 4000 (currently 3000). furthermore, the club also has to provide a business plan to increase the capacity to 5000 within "realistic timescales" complete with planning permission. if chek's dream is to become reality this would need to be done by 31st may 2010. good luck to all concerned!
