We never saw the best of him when he was here because he clearly had talent but was a bit of a luxury who didn't like to work very hard. That was if he turned up - I recall he was unreliable too from time to time!
If he's been getting conference money forget it - he won't come back here as a "two bob a wik player" as Nicky Law used to like to call our opponents when we paid high wages and could get some of the best available.
I'm afraid that even at this level a bit of class can demand a price and no-one will stay or go anywhere if they can get more somewhere else. Look at Rushden & Diamonds now without the bottomless purse that was Doc Martens money!
