Finn is a tragic creature. Born from the loins of a stallion and mare who loved each other dearly and then witnessing his mother ripped apart by his older half sister. He had seen the blood and flesh of years unlived tear away from the scarlet angel and in a fit of confusion and panic, he had run away. His father hadn’t been around much after that; moving on from one mare to another, breaking their hearts when he couldn’t find it in himself to truly love them and care for them as they wanted. Finn has one half-sister through his mother, but the hatred he feels for her is something which words cannot describe. Oblivion is a sinister thing, and the very name brings with it a snarl to his features. Just the thought of the snake-mare made Finn want to punch a tree or something. His father, in his never-ending search for someone to replace Sibyl (Finn’s mother) had sired many children (at least three that Finn knew of). And Finn hadn’t ever really forgiven him for it. Then, he had been a colt, and he had found comfort in the confines of a cave that lingered within Enipeus’s strangely beautiful mountains.
But Cade had found him; she always had. Even when he had run into Enipeus screaming his head off that he’d just seen his mother murdered by her own daughter (the image of her eyeball gouging out of her eye and the blood pooling around her head as Oblivion’s hooves smashed into her skull and deformed the facial tissue of the once-beautiful mare continues to haunt him to this day) Cade had been there. She was perhaps the only one in the world who could tolerate his temper and his rather unorthodox manners. And she was also the only one that he could tolerate being around without wanting to pulverize his head against a brick wall. The cave had been the place where he and Eos had agreed to raise her child as theirs after she’d been raped. The red mare was no love interest for Finn, but he agreed because she meant so much to Cade. Besides, Cade had vanished at that point. And when Eos had been killed, Finn had retreated back to his cave. What happened to him then was something remarkably terrible. He’d gone mad with the losses of his life, and had reserved himself to being a hermit. But once again, Cade had found him.
And now, as the world steamed from the fires that had ran rampant along the world of Enipeus, Finn took shelter in a cave. It wasn’t like the one in Enipeus. The one in Enipeus had been an exquisite labyrinth while this one was somewhat smaller. It stank of the smells of the ocean, and Finn could hear the waters of the salty sea at the back of the cave. He walked to them, and took in a breath of their stench. They smelled of a potent mixture of salt and sulfur and some foreign, toxic mixture. Crinkling his nose, the stallion turned to leave. That was when he saw her.
Finn had to blink a few times before the image completely stuck. He wasn’t as Cade would remember him; he was shaggy now, and his unkempt mane made him look like a ragged beast rather than what he truly was. Inside, he wanted to move to her as quick as possible. But he knew she still felt guilty for being raped and delivering two children Finn had taken in as his own children. He continued to watch her on unsteady limbs. In an instant, his demeanor changed as his eyes focused on hers, and a wry grin crossed his features in a boyishly handsome display. ”Are you done running from me yet?” He fights the urge to walk to you, combating his own conscious thoughts of wanting to crumble into your embrace. He wants you, Cade. He needs you. Can’t you see that his life just doesn’t work without you?
