Solira: The Ocean: delivered from the blast the last in a line of lasts

”Calm yourself friend.” The cool voice of the roan scholar murmurs into the hazy air as she approaches the pair of strangers. She walks stiffly, the pain still lingering from the fire even after Marshall’s healing touch and her water’s numbing kiss. But it would fade, she trusted that, in time it would fade as things always do. She was slick and dark with sweat, looking more black than a shimmering blue. She’d been toiling near the sea, sucking the poison from it until she grew to weak to throw her element into its raging waters once more. She excused herself to take a break and a breather, though there was little clean air to clear her head here.

She dipped her black muzzle to them as she settled into a halt near them, a fragile smile twisting her lips. ”The elements punished us for our recent weakness, it was not unjust.” Her voice, usually soft and fluid like running water, broke and tensed as she tried to talk over that char lining her throat. It grieved her, as it grieved many, the plight of Solira these days of late. Plague after plague after plague. She exhaled heavily, dropping her head behind a sheet of gnarled black mane. ”But I have faith we will grow stronger. The heart of Solira beats strong and true.” Black cords whisper at her hocks as her tail flicks mildly. ”I am Huyana by the way, an apprentice here. Welcome, Belisarius and Edgar. I am sorry you came at such an inopportune time, but we appreciate your drive to stay.” They needed all the help, all the bodies they could get right now. She felt meekly desperate and it annoyed her.
