For dreams and things that never are.
Courage is exhausted. Physically and mentally, her limits have been reached. She has just healed her son of his battle wounds from his first march back from Blitzkrieg, where he successfully freed a Soliran prisoner from Andarin. Her pride in him is unmatched, as would any mother who had watched her son perform such a daunting task so perfectly. But even in her tired state, the golden mare shines like a beautiful beacon of light for Solira to follow. Huyana is excellent company and Courage smiles as she watches Zeke for a moment, as the cub catches sight of Huyana. Zeke comes closer, weaving in and out of Courage’s legs as he keeps his eyes on the seer’s (favorite) student. She won’t hurt you, Zeke. Courage’s voice teases him to come closer to the rainbow horse. Finally, the cub reaches out a paw to the other horse, tapping her gently on the leg or whatever was closest to him. He sniffs her. Well, duh, she’s the reason I came to you. ”His name’s Zeke,” Courage said, ignoring the cub’s words. Zeke chose this moment to begin purring and settle himself in the nearby nest area he’d set up for himself beside a pond. And at this moment Courage turned to Huyana.
”The unknown is a frightening thing to encounter, but I’m doing all that I can to ensure Solira will be here at the end of the day,” she said with a small, weak smile. ”Connor won his first battle today. He brought home a Soliran from Andarin.” Courage’s pride is a beautiful thing, since her son is one of the most important things in her life. It’s because of him, because of Kratos and Huyana and Marshall that she is working so hard to keep Solira afloat. She has found her purpose, and some day so will her student. An affectionate nose goes to the other mare’s darker hide as something in the ocean calls her to attention. She can feel her mother, still, in the ocean’s waves. ”You know, after my father left me, my mother came back to see me. She explained to me why she couldn’t stay. It was when the hounds attacked Solira, when I was still so young. She saved me from the hounds. But as soon as I healed, she told me she had to leave; that a whole nation was at war and she was the only one that could save them.” Courage admired Genesis for her nobility. The white mare was so much like Alshain Courage could almost see them together. Genesis was in some ways like Saphira, but in many more ways she was different. Her eyes rested on Huyana once more. ”Tell me what you thought of the mountains and the desert.”
