Huyana on January 22, 2009, 7:28 pm, in reply to "10,000 fists in the air; HUYANA " A soft sigh tumbled from her nares, vanishing into the rest of the salty air before she inhaled once more. Solira’s present predicament was difficult and Huyana was similarly less suited for politics as he was. She would work for her herd, she would flitter around from member to member getting to know them, but she had never attempted to lift the herd on her shoulders, struggling to support it alongside so many of its faithful members. Huyana had never been faithful before. She wasn’t about to tuck tail and run at the first sign of trouble at least, she would stick with Solira as long as it offered her what she wanted; a crumbling kingdom made little difference to Huyana. But trying so hard, fighting so hard for something was new to her. Maybe through this struggle, she would finally feel like she’d made Solira a part of her, and in such, made it her first true home. Maybe…

”It might work.” She mused with a short, soft laugh. His threatening that was, might work. She shook her head faintly, the motion barely stirring the black hairs settled across her forehead. He was right though, of course she knew this; you could only help the ones that would help themselves. If Solira wanted to survive, its members had to want it to, all of them not just a select few. With the rest of his words her brief amusement drifted away as if pulled in by the sea. She stared into its moving depths, mesmerized by its power and beauty as always.
”They fear.” She whispered softly to him, unblinking as she stared into the mournful maw of the sea. ”They fear the loss of their home, and it grows with every body that leaves, every body that was once called friend and trusted upon.” Many had left recently, it was crippling Solira, the ocean roared in her pain and her loneliness. ”But they hope too.” A fragile smile gifted her black lips. ”They hope because the fear makes them struggle. They’re fighting, resisting what seemed such an ominous future for us. The light is splitting through the clouds, the days are not so bleak. Solira finally lifted her head and opened her eyes, blinking at this desolate world she had become. Slowly, but surely, her heart began to beat once more. We found unity in our sorrow and out fear… on the verge of catastrophe souls always unite. It is such a strange thing, such massive change brought on by the most unlikely allies.” Huyana ducked her head, amber pools shutting out the world in darkness as her lids slid shut across her vision. ”That is what I see anyway, what I hear.” She turned her head back to him, lids parting so the world rushed back into sight. She simpered, eyes brightening. ”But you didn’t need me to answer that. Anyone who steps on these shores can feel the pulse of Solira, can see the fire in the eyes of those living here. The beach is stirring with voices.” There were many that remained silent still, and the echoing sounds could not replace the symphony that had previously been here. The ocean was loud again, but you could count the different tones easily. There was little variety, for only a few were shouting now.
