For dreams and things that never are.
Solira is falling down around her, and Courage cannot help it. She is not a warrior who can fight to bring back prisoners or citizens. My golden mare is not a spy who can steal away any either another prisoner or return a citizen for their home. As a scholar, it is her duty to negotiate, and in the moment that Solira needs her most, she is trying her best to decipher the duties which she will perform. The golden mare watches her companion with interest peaked and radiant smile still beaming its own warmth onto her. The rainbow child is a lively character, but youth has a sweet innocence to its energetic antics. Courage sees the best in everything; or at least she tries to. The golden mare tilts her head to the student and smiles with a nod of her head. She isn’t like some who would be annoyed by the sheer volume of speech that comes out of the other’s mouth. Instead, she is amused by it, and it registers on her features as she listens to the other continue talking. Finally, when Courage has a name to call her by, she smiles graciously and lets her grin broaden on her features to embrace such a friendly gesture.
”Well then Lycoris, I am still a teacher to two students, so ask away,” she said through the luminescent grin. Courage will one day be known as The Incandescent when and if she should ever reach such a legendary status as to receive a title. Perhaps part of her fancies the notion, but the other part is much too caught up in what’s going on around her. Actually at this exact moment, Zeke pounces on Courage’s leg, pawing at it with gentle ease as he begs to be played with. Mysteriously, a piece of grass tickles his nose just bad enough to make him sneeze and topple over on his unsteady legs. Courage looks back at the kitten and smiles; he knows she did it. Her eyes then move to Lycoris, and her smile continues. ”Sorry, familiars can get a little rambunctious.” Another glance is given to the small cat, and she cannot help the smile that comes to her face as he glances up at her. We’ll see how funny you are when I’m older, he said, and with a flick of his head he was paying more attention to the one that had interrupted their stroll. She looks tasty, he said, which made Courage’s smile widen. It didn’t show on her face – not even when he replied: Can I eat her? Courage glanced back at him and shook her head. With a bit more coaxing and Zeke finally realizing he wasn’t going to budge the golden mare into letting him eat her, he satisfied himself with practicing hunting in the woods near Solira. Who knows? Maybe he’d get lucky. Again, Courage turned an apologetic smile to Lycoris.
”So you’re an air element,” she said with her smile slipping easily across her features (it’s a different smile; this one is more of a warm smile and curious). ”I know a place you’d like to visit. The air there is very powerful. Want to see it?” Courage has dealt with keeping her fire element away from the special air horses in her life for quite some time now. She’s an expert on it, so don’t worry about that dear ‘coris.
