Desdemona avoided eye contact with Loti, staring out at the waves or at Loti’s nose. It hurt her too much to see the pain written all over the Akhal-Teke’s face. So Loti was actually there. What a welcome, coming home to hallucinogenic mists and getting kicked in the head. Desdemona seriously considered lying to her…friend; she even opened her mouth to do so, but she decided that if there was anything Loti deserved, it was the truth. She looked down at Loti’s chest as she spoke, her ears pointed back ”At first, I thought you were...Helena” her name sounded like nails on a chalkboard to her ears, this was the first time she had said it out loud to anyone in Solira. ”Then you bumped into me and became my father.”
