After her murderously accurate front hooves returned to the earth, Desdemona grinned victoriously as she looked to see the damage she had caused to her dear father’s disgusting skull. All her hatful, angry, and vengeful thoughts melted away and were replaced with thoughts of horror and self loathing for the bleeding head was not the chestnut one of Yttemir but the dunskin one of Loti. The mare struck clumsily at Desdemona, panic dripping from her eyes. Each panicked step Loti took back into the sea reverberated through Desdemona’s body. There was one horse alive that Desdemona loved and she was bleeding into the waves upon Desdemona’s own doing. No one could hate their self more than she did as she looked into Loti’s shocked, fearful eyes. Desdemona took hesitating steps into the ocean, closing the painful gap between her and Loti. Her eyes filled with tears of horror. ”No. Nonononono. This cannot be real, these mists, they cause dreadful illusions. Loti, please tell me you’re not real. I need to hear those words. I need you to say those words.”
