it defies all attempts to capture it with words, and denies all shackles.
no matter what you say about it, there is always that which you can't.
Saphira
Her eyes lift, sapphire meeting shadow. This whisper is so different from the one that echoes voicelessly in her mind. Oh so different, and yet more familiar than anyone will ever understand. Her elements are in chaos around her, water dripping from her damp skin to shatter the moment it touched the floor of Desreal. Lightning forking across her body, and entangling itself within her mane. Gales of air entwining itself around her scared and bleeding form. She hears another whisper. Softer and yet more demanding than the first.
It is time to come home
And then she is running. Her long powerful legs carrying her to the distant shores of Solira. Her home, her kingdom. The other half of her beaten and tattered soul. She shies to a stop only inches from the boundary line, her sapphire eyes searching for the voice. Her whisperer. But no one is there to greet her. She is alone. Always and forever alone.
Saphira takes a hesitant step forward, and in that moment the ‘traitor’ of Solira had returned. The moment her body crosses the threshold, the ocean roars to life. It cries out for her, and then she recognises the sound of the voice. So foregin. She runs towards her pebbled shore, and in the moment her feet reach the ocean, she is home. The waves encircle her, embrace and covet her. They crawl all over her skin, until she is no longer discernable through the turmoil of the ocean. The only indication of her presence, is the way the waves go against the tide, and instead are focalized on the overo mare admist them.
Time is meaningless to the Siren, for there in the circle of the ocean, her ocean, she is neither living nor dead. She is simply in existance. She has never looked so beautiful, or so dangerous.
When she emerges from the water, it holds tightly to her skin. Clawing and attempting to draw her back into the cold depths. But she keeps moving, her legs chruning up rock and sand until she reaches the shoreline. The ocean still clings to her, and she is the living embodiment of the ocean maelstorm. Seemingly made completely from the ocean waters, and the fury of the lightning storm.
She heads towards Alshain’s favorite rocky dune, and overlooks the Kingdom she had been forced to leave. Oh how she had missed this place, the Jaegers. She smiles; it is neither soft nor hard. Neither welcoming nor distant. It changes, every second her face shifts, until no one emotion lingers long enough to be dominant. She speaks to no one, and everyone. She has no idea who will remember their painted Siren with the sapphire eyes. Perhaps no one. But this is of little consequence. She is simply happy to be home.
“Solira, Jaegers, my friends. I have returned…will you welcome me back?”
It is a dangerous question to be asked, but one that needed asking none the less. It is time for your judgment Jaegers. Will you accept the return of your once beloved Siren, or will you throw her into the ocean she was born from? With a heavy sigh the maelstorm is shed from her skin, and in an explosion of water and lightning it returns to whence it came, leaving Saphira feeling exposed before a crowd of leering strangers.
