The pink light on Lithium's auburn hide gave a glowing effect that echoed the smaller stallion's warmth of chracter. An expression - not quite a smile, but the merest ghost of one - crossed Xanadu's face as he watched him. Sometimes, happiness can be infectious.
But Xan's eyes found themselves drifting away from Lithium's perpetually happy face, back to the crashing waves. Lithium was right - there was just so much of it, it blew the mind. Such an expanse of nothing but the endless swell of the waves and the song of the sea. It almost hurt the large, paint stallion's head thinking about it.
Was he here to stay? He hardly knew himself. His mind, clear in that way that thoughtlessness lends, was filled for a moment with only the splendour of the sky as the pink bloomed into orange, and the sun began to smile properly over the sea.
After a moment, he broke the silence - his decision, made on a split second, he would stick to - this is the paradox of Xanadu.
"Yes, I find I'm here to stay, for so long as I am welcome."
The mesmerising sight of the mighty waves was enough to hold him here - for now, at least. For Xanadu? He was less constant, more fiery than the water - pretty to look at, perhaps, but burning to the touch.
But then again, did marsh-flames not live on the surface of the water?
