Aquila could not feel anything for so long after her master had left her presence, leaving her with the unsatisfying feeling of a deep numbness. And then she could feel Gecko again. She came from the shadows, looking much worse off than the last time he’d seen her. No, it wasn’t from her time in Solira; this was the first time that she had been seen by anyone since she had been taken. As soon as she sees him, though, she cannot help the tears that come to her eyes. She wants to go to him, wants to hold him and ask of their children. But she is under the spell of the earthly master’s shard and it stops her from returning home to the ones she has loved for so long. And so she has been content to stay here, in the depths of Solira. Aquila, the mare that had once been so proud and majestic and full of her own fury, now wants to fall to her knees and scream her agony for the world to hear. But she cannot. She will not. Perhaps there is dormant Alshain inside of her, locked away as always. She moves towards Gecko with a hesitant stride, the tears not even bothering being blinked away as they stream down her cheeks.

”Gecko, I’m so, so sorry,” she said with melancholy demeanor. There is nothing but the distant reminder of the mare he knew in those sapphire eyes. ”I’m Elemmire’s slave now, and I knew I was doing it.” She cannot look at him, and she wants to let the stallion comfort her, but her burning scar will not allow it; she must stay far away so that she cannot and will not hurt her family. ”I did it so that no one else would have to do it, willingly or not. I don’t expect you to understand.” She is ashamed of herself, but as those eyes stray across his, the affection, the lingering devotion and emotional attachment (yes, the love) lingers in those eyes. Her heart breaks in her chest for Gecko, but she cannot and will not put him and their children through the pain of the nightmare that she would become. And so she stayed away. There was no choice greater to make; she was a masochist when it came down to it and would sacrifice her happiness for the happiness of those that she loved. And yes, Gecko, she still loves you. With everything that she is, was and will ever be does she love you.
