For dreams and things that never are.
Courage is sort of lost these days, without Kratos around to keep her on her toes (though, let’s face it and say that she’s starting to bulge around the midsection thanks to their last meeting) and her father still saying he wants nothing to do with her. But of course, she can only sigh and shake her head on the night’s misty memory. That was when Huyana came up to her. She’d known that they’d lived in the same place, but she didn’t really realize they hadn’t seen each other until just now. It’s a startling thing, since Courage liked to keep track of everyone she knew, especially those that she liked. Huyana was a careful creature, and Courage’s water element especially liked her (the fire liked her just fine but knew that the water would be more dominant with her). The other mare came forward with the typical kindness, and the golden mare smiled and nodded her head in a polite manner. Those oceanic eyes swirled with fire and water, and she lets both elements remain dormant for the time being. The other mare was at first quite taken aback if memory served correctly as Courage had watched her first interaction with the elements. But her words were careful and full of concern, something that seemed to be going around lately like a sickness. As always, Courage smiles.
”Things are always worrisome around here,” she said with a small chuckle before her gaze turns slightly more serious, though she refused to let her next speech dictate the entire conversation. ”My mother is a leader from a far away land, and she had to leave me in hopes that I wouldn’t know the war that she endured back where she is from,” she said, the smile increasing with the memory of her mother, Genesis. ”She left me with my father, who abandoned me and said he would rather be with his family. So I’ve been on my own my entire life. That’s how I became a scholar; I was taken in by three stallions here in Solira: Micah, Marshall, and Kratos.” Her eyes shine with brilliant affection for the trio. Had it really been that long ago? ”And I’ve also just discovered I’m pregnant with Kratos’s child; he doesn’t know yet but I think he’ll be happy to hear.” The fire leaps from her skin momentarily and plays along her hooves until the water douses it, tackling it with a playful, sizzling laugh. Courage smiles at the elements and then back to her student. ”But it’s never anything that will keep me from my friends. Speaking of friends, I’m sure I’ve bored you to tears. Come, tell me about yourself, dear Huyana. Why did you choose to become a scholar?” There is a joyful smile on her face, and it could be likened to an angel, for that is what Courage has always been – a lost angel.
