For dreams and things that never are.
The water surrounds them, and the two elements combine as they always had. Part of Courage wishes Marshall had been her father instead of Fantome; the black stallion hardly even resembled her to begin with. In truth, she might be the daughter he wouldn’t ever have, though she secretly wishes for a sibling similar to herself. Don’t get her wrong; Aquila and Altair are nice but don’t have a clue that she exists since Genesis didn’t really have time to tell them while she was here. Actually, Courage understood her mother’s need to leave. She had been the leader of her nation at war, Enipeus. And the great white mare had a responsibility to let Courage grow up in her element. She’d left as soon as Courage had let her know she was fine on her own. At least she had one parent that was reluctant to give her up. Fantome’s denial of his daughter’s affections was heartbreaking to say the least, but at least Courage had found her own family inside of Solira’s tender embrace. Marshall had been one of them. Those cherished bluish eyes lingered on Marshall’s seeing his visions and taking in everything with a careful gaze. But she said nothing until after he was finished speaking, letting her muzzle drape across his body in an affectionate, almost daughterly way. It’s always tough when there is no good guy and bad guy in the dramatic situation. A small, weak smile settles on her lips, traveling to her eyes softly as she lets her gaze meet with his.
”Do you want me to hate her, Marshall? I will if you want me to.” There is a small chuckle that escapes her, and her shoulder brushes against his before the melancholy falls around them. Her fire flickers softly within her, beckoning the world to watch her with wonder. But in this tragic moment, she smiles a victorious smile to her friend, bumping her muzzle so tenderly with his. ”Do not be sad, Marshall. Don’t you see the beauty in this?” Oh, my most beloved companion, you have taught her so well that now she wants to teach you. See the world through Courage’s eyes and let yourself wonder at the awe aspiring words you are about to hear and the simplistic reasoning that will be used. ”You can feel things, Marshall. Not everyone ever finds anything they love, let alone someone. You at least have the capabilities to love. And remember this; as much as you love Saphira, imagine when that love will be reciprocated. It will be a thing of beauty that you cannot imagine and cannot express.” Oh, Marshall. She is quite a dreamer. And it is obvious now as she speaks. You can see the affection for you that she has, in the father she was so lucky to have been adopted by. Her smile, so charming and sweet, makes itself so tenderly comfortable on her lips as she lets her muzzle run across your skin once again before she finishes. ”Take the pain, but remember that the pain goes away with time. Don’t forget to cherish the bad times because they make the good times that much better.” Her smile continues, like the beauty of a rosy dawn.
